So, it's been three months to the day since I was last on here.  In that time I've gotten myself a prospective agent for my book who is willing to work with me to get it polished up.  Awesome!  My days are now filled with rewriting and writing new material.  I try to average three to five pages a day.  Slow but steady.  Takes me about a week to finish a chapter.  Hopefully I can keep it up once school starts again.

Drawing Guild will have their show up in the Plains starting October 11th, so be sure to put that on your calendars.  I'll post here when I have the date for the opening reception since I think we'll be having several live bands play for us.  I've been named guest curator of the show and am helping the curator at the Plains and the PR person get the media stuff ready.  Lots of work.  Some fun.

Other than that, I graduated from my Auntie Pam's school of cooking this weekend.  The final was to be short order cook for eight people the last morning I was at her house.  Let me tell you, that is hard work.  Maybe eggs, bacon, potatoes, pancakes, and toast according to individual request is a juggling act.  I am now an offical cook though so I'll be up to the task of cooking for myself and my three apartment mates this year.  Woohoo!

Well, I did it.  I chopped my hair off.

My father jumped like a foot off the ground when I walked in the door and my brother's been calling me a 'Pat' ever since, but I kind of like it.  I can actually feel the wind on the back of my head (who knew such things were possible?), I can wake up in the morning and just shake my head to brush it (I get crazy bedhead now and it's hysterical to my family), and I can put on my fencing mask without having to pull my hair back constantly.  It's sooo nice.

Nothing else much to say besides there are more pictures of my hair on facebook if you're interested in the full 360 view.

Wow, it's been over a month.  I'm starting to suck at this.

So, I'll recap April with some pictures.

First, I went to the cities for a Twins game and some shopping at the mall with my future roommate Sarah and our good friend Brett.  This old guy kept hitting on Sarah the whole time and the people next to us bought over a dozen beers that we had to keep passing down to them.  So annoying.

This was back in February, but it was too good to pass up.  Me with my Valentine's date, Brighton (from my story).  It's so lame, it's pathetic.  But I had a hilarious time making him, so it made up for it.

Me killing time with Chad and Brett.

We all had a bonfire at another Megan's house in West Fargo and needless to say, I attracted her cats.  There's two in the picture and they both demanded to be petted constantly.  Everyone kept calling me "cat lady".

See, just making fun of people who naturally attract cats.

So, I finally decided I'm going to get my hair cut short.  Really short.  Like this.

Then again, I have to go talk to my hair-cutting lady since my hair might be too thick for that.  Anyway, it'll be really short for the summer because I'm tired of almost dying of heat stroke when it reaches 80.  My father claims I'm going to look like a boy and my mother keeps telling him, "She doesn't look like a boy to begin with so why would she look like a boy if she cut her hair!"  It's kind of funny really.  Of course, if I don't like it, growing it out will be a major pain.

And so, four finals, two days of testing, and I'll be done on the 7th.  Then I'll spend my summer working at the Plains, doing summer school, going to Quebec, and working as a waiter for a catering service.  (I need the money for the month-long trip I'll take to Scotland next summer with the art department.)

Q.O.D.: (from the bonfire)

Sarah: Kristi, you're burning my weiner!

Kristi: Yeah, well, you got white stuff all over my stick earlier.

(What followed was a slight pause and then laughter from five of seven people.  My roommate Amanda and the other Megan were still too pure to get it.)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!  (runs around the room and promptly hits a wall)

I sent out a few email queries to literary agents this weekend since my potential agent at Jabberwocky is being a poop, and I got a response from one guy on the same day (and it's Saturday) and he wanted me to send him my manuscript via email.  I almost fell out of my chair in my rush to do a happy dance.  I couldn't believe it!  Most agents make you wait four to six weeks to be declined and this guy accepted me in less than a day!   Boo-yeah!

(Ahem)  In other news: I'm tired of school, the art department misplaced my scholarship applications so I didn't get any money (I'm still extremely miffed with them), and I really want ice cream but have eight more days till Easter.  Also, the Iliad is not fun to read in less than a week (the same is true for the Odyssey), and Edward Gorey is the craziest/coolest man alive (only he's now dead).

So, yeah, my life is full of no-sugar and it's been raining for too long .  That's all.  I'm going to go daydream about Easter morning now and how many times I'm going to go to Dairy Queen.

Only five days till spring break!  I can hardly wait.  My homework's wrapping up so all that's left is midterms.

I've discovered why it is that I've had five guys try to ask me out this school year.  It seems I'm too nice of a person.  Now, that on its own isn't bad, but coupled with an inability to tell why guys are flirting with me and I have a disaster waiting to explode.  This problem isn't completely unfixable though.  All I need to do is have my guy friends explain how guys flirt and I should be okay.  I hope.  (It should be noted now that all five guys who tried to ask me out were creepy and should not, under any circumstances, be dated by people with an average or above average IQ.)

Moving on, we have me working at the museum with a guy I want to punch every time he opens his mouth.  There is such a thing as asking people if they want lunch too many times.  (Do you want me to pick you up anything from Erberts and Gerberts?  Are you sure?  Are you sure because they have really good soup?  I mean this soup is to die for.  Are you sure?  I could get you a salad, or soup, or a sandwich?  Are you sure?)  My response:  JUST GO ALREADY!!!  I'LL EAT LUNCH WHEN YOU COME BACK!!!!

Other than that, life will be good in a week.  Oh, I saw The Departed this weekend.  I haven't seen so much "realistic" violence since History of Violence.  However, this movie had no sex scene, or maybe you'd call it a rape scene.  I'm still up in the air about the whole thing.
